Urine Dipsticks for urine test strips are basic diagnostic tools used to determine pathological changes in patient urine in standard urinalysis. Up to 10 different chemical pads or reagents can be found in a typical urine test strip, which reacts when placed in and then taken out of a urine sample. It is usually a thin, plastic stick with strips of chemicals on it, coated with urine. The Urine Dipsticks will change color if certain substances are present or if certain levels are above, or below, normal which can indicate the presence of compounds like proteins, ketones, hemoglobin, and nitrites, as well.
